Sunbrella shade fabrics are breathable, so heat escapes instead of building up under the canopy. They resist fading, UV, mould, mildew and stains, and clean with mild soap and water. Both are solution-dyed acrylic made for outdoor shade. Sunbrella is American and offers wider widths up to 203 cm plus marine ranges like Plus and SeaMark. Dickson Orchestra is made in France, 120 cm wide, and every colour is tested for heat, glare and UV so you can compare shade performance colour by colour.
Which fabric is best for an umbrella canopy?
Any Sunbrella shade colour or Dickson Orchestra plain works well. Darker colours with higher comfort classes block more heat and light; lighter colours keep the space brighter. Send us the umbrella size and we will suggest a fabric.
Is Sunbrella fabric waterproof?
Standard Sunbrella shade fabric is water repellent and breathable, not fully waterproof. For full waterproofing choose SeaMark, which has a waterproof backing, or Sunbrella Plus with its polyurethane undercoat.
